Starcraft 2 beginner’s guide is something that all newbie in the game should have to rank higher. In this Starcraft 2 guide, I would like to share some of the Starcraft 2 (SC2) basic and mention 3 tips that will guarantee higher ranks for You.
Here are a few things You should be aware of if You are a newbie (if You have already in the game, You may skip this part)
The main goal in SC2 is to kill the opponent’s buildings. When a player loses all his buildings, the game ends. To defeat your opponents, use must use your workers to harvest minerals, build buildings and then train your units. I’d like to share what’s the 3 most important tips for winning as a newbie in SC2.
1. Think about “profitable business”
You must optimize your workers who harvest minerals and build buildings for You. Keep the optimal number of workers to 2 per mineral node and 3 per vespene geyser. Any more or less than that should be avoided.

You should never stop producing worksers until You have hit optimal number, unless You are going for an intended rush or are being rushed. 22 harvesting unis at your main base and normal expansion is standard. If you grab a “rich” expansion with orange mineral deposits, you only need 18 harvesting units as there are only 6 mineral nodes at each rich expansion.
2. “Damage” could sometimes be misleading and does not describe a unit’s damage stat. Some units get multiple attacks. For example, the Thor’s anti-air attack is actually 4 attacks. Where it says 6 damage per attack, it really means 24 total damage (4 attacks x 6 damage per attack). Make sure You are aware of this to be in full control.
Speed of attack is not the same for every units. The Hydralisk may appear weaker than a Stalker since a Hydralisk only deals 12 damage per attack to the Stalker’s 10 (14 vs armored) and a Hydralisk also has a lot less HP.
To give You more idea, Hydralisk attacks every .75 seconds (12 damage / .75 seconds = 16 damage per second). The Stalker attacks every 1.44 seconds (10 damage / 1.44 seconds = 6.944 dps vs normal, 14 damage / 1.44 seconds = 9.69 versus armored units).
Considering this stats, the Hydralisk deals more than 2 times as much damage as the Stalker insipite of having similar “damage” rankings. Inexperience players are sometimes not aware of this stats.
3. Be aware of “unit damage” bonuses. Few units in Starcraft 2 deal bonus damage to different unit types, making them good counters against other units. Check units and their bonuses:
- Marauder: +10 damage vs armored units
- Hellion: +10 damage vs light units (more with upgrade).
- Thor: +damage to light air units
- Phoenix: +10 damage to light air units (+5 damage x 2 attacks per hit)
- Immortal: +33 damage to armored units (huge amount!)
- Ultralisk: +15 damage vs armored units
With this facts, the Marauder, Immortal, and Ultralisk are great vs armored units, while the Hellion, Thor, and Phoenix are great vs light units.
4. Master “Scouting Skills” This is a skill You should master to survive. Shokz Guide reveals the proper method for scouting and exactly what you are looking for (most players don’t have a clue) in part 1 of its free e-mail strategy course.
5. Hotkeys is the “key”. Get yourself to master the keyboard keys which are shortcuts which you can use to issue commands for building structures, training units, and controlling units. This is one of those survival and even “winning” skill You need to familiar with.
Hitting the “A” key and then then clicking anywhere on the map will move your team and set them to automatically attack whatever they encounter. This is much faster than clicking the “attack” button on screen.
Those are some examples of what Shokz Guide will be able to help your game. I strongly recommend picking up the Shokz Guide, which has all of the strategies you will need to reach the top rank in Starcraft 2.
